Julen holds a PhD in Environmental and Analytical Chemistry (University of the Basque Country, 2014) and through the last years he has gained experience in food chemistry and sustainable process engineering and production working as a Research and Development Project Manager with industrial partners.
On July 2017, he has joined the team as a Post Doctoral Researcher on the AUTENFOOD project in charge of research tasks in the field of olive oil authentication. Previously, Julen has worked as a European Research Project Coordinator at the Environment Department of the University of York and as a Research and Development Project Manager at the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence of York undertaking responsibilities for the management and process scale-up of the production and analysis of valuable chemicals from biomass and food waste using green technologies.
Prior to his work experience in the United Kingdom Julen successfully finished his PhD in Environmental Contamination and Toxicology in the Analytical Chemistry department in the University of the Basque Country in which he conducted individual and collaborative international research projects for the determination and study of a wide variety of chemicals in diverse environments and ecosystems.
